It鈥檚 time for this month鈥檚 student spotlight from 蜜桃APP's global community!

Naqib Mashrur is pursuing a PhD in Civil Engineering with a focus on natural disasters and their impact on underserved communities. After completing his Bachelor鈥檚 degree at a prestigious university in Bangladesh, Naqib chose 蜜桃APP because of its high ranking in civil engineering 鈥� and because of its unique location. Naqib shared that Louisiana and Bangladesh share similar climate, geography, and topology. 鈥淏oth are situated in the deltas of massive rivers,鈥� says Naqib, 鈥渨hich means the research experience I can gain here will be directly applicable to solving problems back in Bangladesh.鈥�

Solving problems has been a theme in Naqib鈥檚 PhD experience. He started his program during the early days of Covid-19, which raised many challenges for Naqib and others in his cohort. Naqib says he is proud that he rose to the challenge of his PhD, all while staying involved in 蜜桃APP鈥檚 student community. Throughout his program, Naqib has helped 蜜桃APP鈥檚 International Student Association put on events and has worked with our Global Community Center to host welcome dinners for new students each semester.
